Fantasy Football 2014 Week 15 Waiver Wire

By Bobby Moodispaugh

Johnny Manziel (CLE): Well, it’s that time in Cleveland. Manziel was officially named the starter on Tuesday and I’m sure many Browns fans are celebrating through the roof. I personally don’t really like Manziel, but I know that he’s going to be the most popular quarterback add of the week, which is why he makes the list. He obviously has the ability to run, but I think that the NFL is much more adept at adjusting to a mobile quarterback than in college. Sure Russell Wilson has had a few 100-yard games, but Wilson is also more talented and experienced than Manziel. Playoffs are well underway, so you probably aren’t still alive if you have like Eli Manning as your quarterback. But in case you miraculously survived, Manziel will most likely be between #15-20 in my rankings this week.

Kerwynn Williams (ARI): Who is Kerwynn Williams?! Well he’s a rookie out of Utah State who saw the first carries of his career on Sunday. With Andre Ellington out for the year, it looked like Marion Grice or Stepfan Taylor was going to be next in line. I mean, they even signed Michael Bush who could have vultured some touchdowns. Head coach Bruce Arians said that he simply stuck with the hot hand which is why Williams received so many carries and said that Taylor is still the starting running back. All that does is make our jobs more difficult. Will Williams or Taylor be the biggest factor this week? It’s tough to say right now. But you can’t ignore Williams’ performance.

Notes:

  • Don’t really want to put this above since he’s owned in 47.4 of ESPN leagues, but Jonathan Stewart had a season-best 155 yards on Sunday. With DeAngelo Williams out and Cam Newton possibly held back by his car accident (hope he gets well soon), Stewart could be in line for another good week.
  • Doug Martin still the starter in Tampa Bay. Obviously not a great option, but hey, starters are starters.
  • Going off of Williams, Taylor would be a nice add in case Arians sticks to what he said Monday.
  • Latavius Murray is still relevant (still only owned in 31.1 of ESPN leagues).
  • With injuries at receiver, Titans turned to Derek Hagan this past week who caught 6 balls for 62 yards. Not pretty, but sufficient.
  • A lot going on in Minnesota these days, Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright both had big games. However, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph could always have big games next week leaving Johnson and Wright in the dust.
  • If Torrey Smith is held back again, Kamar Aiken could have another big role in the Ravens offense.
  • Defenses to pick up are Ravens, Giants, Chiefs, and Panthers.
